F.A.Q.'s

Home Delivery F.A.Q.s:

Is there a minimum order or delivery charge?

Yes.  We require that you purchase at least four items per delivery.  There is a $1.50 delivery charge, per delivery.

What is your billing cycle?

Our billing cycle is monthly.  You will receive a bill with your first delivery of the month reflecting the previous month's deliveries.  Because we extend a full month credit, we request that you pay by the fifteenth of the month.

How do I place an order?

Orders can be placed directly through your driver using a note or the order forms that we provide.  By leaving the order form with your empties, orders can be placed the same day as your delivery.  Our trucks are well stocked so no advance notice is necessary.  If you do not leave a note, the driver will leave your standard order or an average order based on your past history.

What do I do if I do not need a delivery?
You may leave a note for your driver the week prior to the cancellation or you may call the office at (781) 749-1222 at least one day prior to your delivery day and leave your name, address and dates of cancellation.

What if I am not home for a delivery?
If you will not be home, please leave an ice pack in your milk box or check off the ice pack service box on your order form.
Note: Milk boxes are only effective if they are kept in the shade.

About our bottles.
Please be sure to rinse and return all glass bottles promptly.  Our glass bottles are sterilized and are refilled to help protect our environment.

How long does milk stay fresh?
When handled properly, our milk will stay fresh for 10-14 days.  Please remember, it is the customer's responsibility to remove the milk from the milk box promptly and to store it at a temperature of 36 degrees.

Holiday deliveries:
We deliver on most holidays, however, we do not deliver on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.  If your delivery is affected, written notice will be given in advance.

Does Hornstra Farms use growth hormones:
NO.  We will never use RBGH on our cows, and since we are the only area dairy that receives their milk exclusively from our own family farm, we are the only dairy that can guarantee the quality of our product.

Weather emergencies:

Every November all Hornstra Farm delivery trucks are equipped with new snow tires.  We assure you that we are ready for whatever Mother Nature has planned. The time of your delivery may vary depending upon the intensity of the storm, but we will get there!
